Peter Forsberg retires….AGAIN
I’m not ready to call Peter Forsberg the Brett Favre of NHL retirees, but if it happens one more time, I may bestow that honor upon him. After a “lengthy” two game comeback with the Colorado Avalanche that saw Forsberg struggle with no points and a minus 4, he’s decided to retire officially from the NHL. A press conference to make the announcement will be held later on today before the Avs/Flames game.
A chronic foot ailment cut short Forsberg’s career. He made a brief return in 2008 and didn’t play in the NHL again until this month. After a visa delay, he took the ice in just two games, scoring no points, before deciding to call it a career.
Unfortunately for Forsberg, both games he played in were on the road, so he never got to play in front of the Colorado fans. However, given Forsberg’s penchant to come out of retirement time and time again, he’ll probably be given that chance sometime in 2013.
Stay tuned, Peter will only be 40 then. Still in his prime that’s for sure.
