Philadelphia DA investigating coach’s assault on player
Step aside Bobby Knight, you’ve got some competition in the “assaulting your own players” department. Holy Family University men’s basketball coach John O’ Connor was caught on tape elbowing and throwing Matthew Kravchuk to the ground. O’Connor has since been suspended for the incident pending an internal investigation by the school, but now the Philadelphia District Attorney is getting involved.
Here’s the clip below obtained by Fox 29 News:
I’m guessing because this was Holy Family University and not one of the “Philly 5″, this was swept under the rug without anyone batting an eye. According to the school, the incident occurred on Jan 25th and yet it took almost a month for the local news to catch wind of it.
On a side note, the “unholy” act by O’Connor should land him a permanent suspension from his position as head coach but more importantly, that type of assault (if memory serves me correct) is worthy of at least 100 Hail Mary’s and some extra time in the confessional with Father Pete.
