Playing a video game wins a man $1,000,000
Wade McGilberry won a million dollars for pitching a perfect game in MLB 2K10.When you were younger, your parents may have told you that playing video games was a waste of time and wouldn’t get you anywhere in life. For Wade McGilberry, all those hours in front of an Xbox have paid off quite handsomely. You could even say “perfectly.”
2K Sports has awarded McGilberry a million dollars for being the earliest verified player to pitch a perfect game on MLB 2K10; accomplishing the feat just hours after purchasing the game on it’s March 2nd release date. And get this, his wife is the person that suggested he take the day off to try and win the million bucks.
The 23-year-old from Mobile, Ala., accomplished the feat in just an hour and a half, becoming the first to pitch a perfect game in Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.’s “Major League Baseball 2K10.” He and his wife, Katy, plan to pay off their mortgage and start a family with the winnings.
Seriously, how great is life for Wade? He’s now a rich man with a wife that actually wants him to miss work to play video games. And everyone raves about how realistic the gameplay is in 2K10, so he’ll probably be in a Pirates jersey by the end of the week. Some guys have all the luck.
