Potential New Jersey Nets buyer loses $53 Million
You know how I know you’re rich? You can blow $53 Million dollars on a deposit for a house and still not be too upset about it. Russia’s 2nd richest man, Mikhail Prokhorov, is also expected to purchase the New Jersey Nets pending NBA approval. As his net worth is near 10 billion dollars, Prokhorov won’t miss the money too much. And frankly, if he’s ok with losing that kind of money, the New Jersey Nets are a fantastic investment for him
From Page Six:
the billionaire playboy awaiting NBA approval to buy majority ownership in the New Jersey Nets and move them to Brooklyn — lost a $53 million deposit he put down on a grand villa in southern France. A French court this week ruled Prokhorov was on the hook for a 10 percent deposit he paid on the $530 million Villa Leopolda because he never closed a 2008 deal with Lily Safra, widow of banker Edmond Safra.
And now just for the sake of pure comedy, here’s a picture of all 10 fans at a recent Nets game. Congrats Mikhail Prokhorov, you’re the proud owner of a crappy franchise.
