Remembering Lorenzo Charles

We’d feel remiss if we didn’t at least mention the death of former NC State basketball player Lorenzo Charles here. Yesterday, Charles, 47, was killed while driving a tour bus in Raleigh, North Carolina.
According to the Associated Press, which quoted Elite Coach general manager Brad Jackson, Charles was driving a company bus on Interstate 40 when the accident occurred. There were no passengers.
…police released little about the crash. It said pictures showed the windshield broken out with tree limbs sticking through the window frame. The rear wheels of the bus were on an embankment, leaving the right front tire elevated from the road.
If you’re a fan of college basketball, you’re more than familiar with Lorenzo Charles. It was his dunk on an airball in the 1983 Championship game that gave NC State the title over Houston.
Arguably, one of the most famous plays in college basketball history.
