Replacement refs Replacement ref needs LeSean McCoy for his fantasy team

It couldn’t possibly get worse for replacement refs, could it? I mean, one was already outed as a Saints fan and Mike Tirico basically called them a joke during last night’s broadcast. But oh dear, it does get worse. You see, one of them told LeSean McCoy he needed him to perform well for his fantasy team.

“They’re like fans, kind of though,” McCoy said. “I’ll be honest, they’re like fans. One of the refs was talking about his fantasy team, like ‘McCoy, come on, I need you for my fantasy,’ ahhh, what?!”

It may have been said jokingly but the mere appearance of impropriety is something the league doesn’t need. Especially after the circus of what was generally referred to as “Week 2 in the NFL”.

We’re getting to a point here where the lead story is about these scab referees, instead of, you know, actual football. Roger Goodell may not be in a rush right now to get something done but the continued complaints from players and fans may eventually find the ears of people who can sway his opinion—the owners. And that will only happen when a horrendous call costs someone a game. We’re not there yet but stayed tuned–it’s only week 2.
