ROCCO MEDIATE: THE POOL CLEANER?

Apparently, Johnny Miller got himself in some hot water with this line…

“looks like the guy who cleans Tiger’s swimming pool…Guys with the name ‘Rocco’ don’t get on the trophy, do they?”

Is it me or is that an ethnic slur that I’m not aware of?
