Ron Jaworski leaves Monday Night Football 135x95 BREAKING: Ron Jaworski booted out of MNF booth

The days of a three-man booth for Monday Night Football are over—for now. NFL analyst Ron Jaworski was removed from the broadcast to make room for Jon Gruden’s growing ego. In addition to the move, Jaws was given a five-year extension with ESPN and will continue his work on NFL Live, Sunday NFL Countdown, and a myriad of other programming.

“I am grateful for having the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of working on Monday Night Football the past five seasons with Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden and so many other talented people behind the scenes who make the show so great, and I look forward to bringing my passion and knowledge of the game to more fans in more places than ever before on any and all football topics,” said Jaworski.

I’d much rather have an X/O guy in the booth over someone who incessantly repeats, “this guy.” But hey, that’s just me. Sure, Jaws was not without fault. His inexplicable dropping of a deuce during a broadcast was not something ESPN was proud of. It did, however, provide us sports guys with Tuesday morning fodder.

It will be interesting to see if this affects rating at all. America is so consumed with football that you could put a deranged chimp in the booth and viewers would still tune in. Something Matt Millen has proven time and time again.

What'd you think of this?
