A Michigan high school team that lost one of their star players last week after a game-winning shot, won their second straight playoff game last night. Fennville, which is still reeling after the loss of Wes Leonard defeated Bangor in blowout fashion 79-50. The team has quickly became the talk of the area with over 3200 attending yesterday’s game. They’ll play for the district title Friday.

Yesterday, we told you about the controversial ending of the St. John’s-Rutgers game in which the referees literally walked off the court as the seconds ticked away at the end. They missed several crucial calls but according to the head of NCAA officiating, that was the most egregious. “Not officiating to the end of a game is unacceptable… we’ll notify the guys sometime Sunday if they’re working or not”. Very possible that Jim Burr, Tim Higgins, and Earl Walton won’t be working the tournament because of the egregious error.

The man who sent all those emails to Jim Tressel was none other than a former letterman in the football program. Chris Cicero was a walk-on linebacker in 1983 while Tressel was an assistant under Earle Bruce. Cicero has a checkered past as a lawyer having lost his license in 1997 for “conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice and of failing to maintain a respectful attitude toward the courts”.

More details of the Miguel Cabrera arrest were leaked on the internet yesterday including a 30-minute police video that shows Cabrera swearing in Spanish and threatening to shoot himself and others. The incident apparently began at a restaurant where Cabrera came in after hours and started harassing customers. After taking down his license plate number, Cabrera was then pulled over by police where all the fireworks started.
