“Burst-resistant” exercise ball is not so “burst-resistant”
Over the years, we’ve seen our fair share of exercise ball accidents. Most, are beyond hilarious, because it usually results in people harmlessly smacking their face on the ball. However, the Sacramento Kings aren’t as amused with these ball accidents, especially when it cost them quite a bit of money. In October of 2009, Kings guard Francisco Garcia broke his right wrist after an Italian made “burst-resistant” ball did indeed burst.
How’s that for irony?
The lawsuit seeks $4 million from Italy-based manufacturer Ledraplastic, ball distributor M-F Athletic Company and Ball Dynamics International. That’s how much the team says it paid Garcia during games he missed because of the injury.
“It was advertised to be burst-resistant, but obviously it was not,” Dreyer told The Associated Press. “We will be able to prove that, for a very small expense, the ball could’ve been made more thicker and provided the burst-resistant capacity as advertised.”
In other news, my weekly Kama-Sutra sessions on the ball will be put on hold for the time being. I can’t imagine that standing on the ball while performing the wheelbarrow is really safe anyways. But now with this news, well, let’s just say I’m slightly more concerned about my sexual organs.
