If you follow these three tenets of investing, you’ll never get swindled:
1) Beware of the 2 P’s (Pyramids and Ponzi’s)
2) If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is
3) Don’t ever give money to the team long snapper
Unfortunately for Saints head coach Sean Payton, he ignored the 3rd rule.
New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton and his wife are suing the team’s former long snapper over a $144,000 investment tied to a now-defunct movie studio.
The federal suit is similar to one filed earlier by Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey and former defensive lineman Charles Grant against Kevin Houser, now with the Seattle Seahawks.
The Paytons’ suit says they paid Houser, a licensed securities dealer, $144,000 in late 2008 for what they thought would be $180,000 in tax credits.
I’m sure Payton is comforted in knowing that brainiac extraordinaire Jeremy Shockey fell victim as well. Probably makes him feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
As for Kevin Houser, I’d question when he found the time to play football and be a licensed securities dealer. But then again, his ass only gets off the bench 5 times a game. He probably concocts schemes with the 3rd string quarterback and backup punter all the time.
