San Diego Chargers release LaDainian Tomlinson

In a move that pretty much surprised no one, the Chargers have released running back LaDainian Tomlinson…

“It has been a privilege to work with him and witness his entire career,” owner Dean Spanos said in a statement. “I’m proud of him and grateful to him for the way he has carried himself both on and off the field.

The former League MVP leaves San Diego having rushed for over 12,000 yards and 138 touchdowns. He is certainly a sure-fire Hall of Famer and though his last couple of season in San Diego haven’t been stellar, he’s the greatest player in the franchises history.

Tomlinson was due to make 5 million dollars this coming year. A price too steep for the Chargers and a price Tomlinson wasn’t willing to negotiate.
