So that middle school trick play…
By now, you’ve seen the video of the trick play Driscoll Middle School ran over the weekend. The quarterback takes the snap, pretends he’s marching off a penalty and instead, runs for a touchdown. At last check, the video had 6 million views, although, there are literally hundreds of versions floating around the web so the number may indeed be higher.
All that aside, did you know that the trick play only tied the game and because of some wacky Texas rules, Driscoll ended up losing the city championship.
Here’s the quarterback and the coach discussing the aftermath of the touchdown on Fox News.
Wait, let me get this straight. I can maybe understand the no overtime rules because they’re in middle school, but penetrations inside the 20 deciding a game? Um, what’s next? Awarding to a championship to a coach who can eat the most grass?
