Solid evidence that cheerleading is indeed a sport
Yesterday, a U.S. district judge erroneously ruled that competitive cheerleading is not a sport. In his ruling, judge Stefan Underhill stated:
“… the activity is still too underdeveloped and disorganized to be treated as offering genuine varsity athletic participation opportunities for students.”
My response to that is simple:
How dare you sir–Bring it On!
Not only are cheerleaders organized but in many cases your honor, they are more than developed. In fact, here are defense exhibits 1-8 illustrating cheerleaders and sports going hand in hand.
7 They perform moves that their male counterparts would not dare consider
6 If Kobayashi can be considered an athlete for competitive eating, why not cheerleaders for competitive drinking?
5 They brave the elements just as well as any football player
4 In some Asian countries, spelling is not only extremely competitive but many consider it a sport
3 Like Ron Artest, they have to deal with unruly and often violent fans too
2 As a Detroit Lions fan, I can tell you her form is much better than many of the quarterbacks we’ve had in the past
1 I rest my case your honor
