Guyism’s daily look at what’s hot in the world of sports.

Despite trailing at halftime to the Detroit Lions, the Patriots never seemed to go into panic mode. Tom Brady remained cool and collective leading New England to 35 second half points en route to a 45-24 win over the Lions. Brady was perfect in nearly every definition of the word with an unheard of 158.3 passer rating, the highest a quarterback can attain.

There’s a reason former first-round draft pick Roy Williams is not considered an elite receiver. As Williams headed into the end zone in what would have ultimately been the game winning touchdown yesterday, he was stripped from behind at the 11-yard line with three minutes left. And of course, the Saints marched right 89 yards down the field for the winning score.

There isn’t much else to say about the heart-warming tribute that CBS did for Chris Henry on their Thanskgiving day broadcast. It was truly touching and even choked this tough blogger up. After Henry’s passing in December of last year, his mother opted to donate his organs and it ended up saving the lives of four people. If you haven’t seen it yet, here is a link to it. Grab some tissues.

Serena Williams 1 135x95 Sports by the numbers: 11/26/10

Thirteen time Grand Slam title holder Serena Williams will not be defending her 2010 Australian Open title in January of next year. Williams announced that she will be missing the tournament as she continues to recover from a foot injury that has sidelined her since after Wimbledon. Amazing that a piece of glass at a restaurant could cause this much damage. I’m willing to just come out and say it, Serena isn’t interested in playing anymore. Or at the very least, she wants to play on her own time

5-7
Texas2 135x95 Sports by the numbers: 11/26/10

The Texas Longhorns regularly get the best recruits in the country and have often found themselves in BCS bowl games over the last decade. But after yet another loss at home to their rival, Texas A&M, the Longhorns will be on the outside looking in during this bowl season. A 5-7 season isn’t exactly a fireable offense in Austin, but Mack Brown better fix things heading into 2011.
