The cost to outfit IU football players for an entire year. Given the Hoosiers’ football ineptness for, well, it’s entire existence, we’re thinking the money could be better spent elsewhere.
Denver Broncos wide receiver Kenny McKinley died yesterday in an apparent suicide. Police were called to the home at 3:35 MST and found McKinley with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This is the third death for the Denver Broncos team since 2007.
Braylon Edwards was arrested early this morning on suspicion of DUI. The suspicion was more or less erased when Edwards blew a .16 on a breathalyzer. As Jimmy Traina of SI hilariously pointed out, after his arrest, Edwards found time to go on Twitter to greet his followers. I wasn’t aware they allowed iPads in jail? That could be the new craze–jail tweeting?
On a night in Candlestick Park where Jerry Rice’s jersey was retired, the 49ers were hoping for a different outcome. 69,732 watched as a steady breeze affected the offense all night. However, the Saints were somehow able to pull out a win on a Garrett Hartley field goal as time expired. The kick certainly wasn’t pretty–it looked partially blocked and fluttered through.
Internet gambling company SportingBet of the U.K. decided to forfeit 33 million dollars in proceeds to U.S. customers. According to a statement by Sportingbet filed as part of the agreement, the company said that from 1998 until Oct. 12, 2006, it offered Internet gaming to players located in the U.S., including real-money sports betting as well as wagering on poker and casino games.
Cardinals catched Jason LaRue’s career is over. A little over a month ago during a brawl with the Reds, LaRue was kicked several times in the head by Johnny Cueto. Larue suffered a concussion and has now decided to call it quits. Cueto was only suspended 7 games for the altercation.
