Staples center CEO gives cabbie $10k
In the aftermath of the Lakers championship celebration and ensuing riots, there remains one feel good story. Abraham Teferi’s cab was burned when rioters got out of control. But Staples Center owner AEG came to the rescue and gave him 10,000.
“On behalf of all the knuckleheads, we apologize and hopefully that helps you get on your feet a little bit,” Tim Leiweke told Abraham Teferi during the presentation at AEG offices.
While the cab itself was insured, Teferi would have been unable to work until everything was resolved. The entire cab burning incident was caught on film by a pedestrian. Police released it to several media outlets in hopes of catching the perpetrators.
