State of Michigan ready to name highway after Mark Ingram

A. Isaac Senior Editor

Flint, Michigan native and Alabama running back Mark Ingram might have another accolade to add to his Heisman Trophy and National Championship. And depending on how you view the stupidity of State politics, this one is just slightly less prestigious.

Last week, three Michigan state senators proposed to name a stretch of highway near Flint after Ingram.

Sec. 1059. Highway I-475 beginning at the intersection of Hill road and I-475 in Genesee county and continuing north to the intersection of I-475 and Carpenter road shall be known as the
“Mark Ingram Memorial Highway”.

Ingram’s contribution to the state of Michigan include, uh, going to high school there and playing football. I was hoping that he secretly solved the automobile crisis or maybe even had a starring role in Roger & Me to be deserving of such an honor. But alas, carrying a football with such vim apparently makes you more than worthy in the Great Lakes State.

This of course begs the question, if you can name a stretch of highway for a high school athlete, shouldn’t there be a county named after Polk High star Al Bundy.

He did after all lead them to the City Championship and produced, according to him, the greatest sports moment in all of history.
