texas state Texas State womens basketball team loses 99 18 to Baylor

I understand that women’s college basketball isn’t nearly as competitive as the men’s side. There are teams like Tennessee, UCONN and in this case, Baylor, who regularly whip their competitions.

But losing 99-18 is so out of bounds that we needed to investigate further.

The game started off 24-0 before Texas State finally scored at 11:05. Unfortunately for the lady Bobcats, they would only score 3 more points the rest of the half.

That’s right, Texas State scored 5 points in the entire first half. They were down 47-5 at halftime.

Allow that to digest for a moment….

The NCAA Div 1 record for fewest points in a half is 3 by Savannah State in 2003. Thankfully, they avoided that. Their 13 points in the second half also avoided the lowest point total ever in a game.

And while Texas State may not exactly be world beaters, they do have 4 wins on the season. In fact, they beat Sam Houston St earlier this year 100-42.

So can you imagine what a game between Baylor and Sam Houston St would look like?

There has to be some kind of mercy rule that we aren’t aware of right? Something like, if you’re up 150 points, you are forced to play with two players.

To add insult to injury in this game, Baylor’s Brittney Griner dunked twice. Chicks don’t dunk in games, let alone twice. I don’t know who Texas State’s coach is, but he probably should have given Griner the John Chaney “send in a goon” treatment. That woulda taught Baylor not to run up the score.

What'd you think of this?
