Love is in the air for U.S. Open champ Rory McIlroy and top ranked tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. McIlroy sat courtside today hoping to see his new girl advance in the Western & Southern Financial Open. Unfortunately and in stunning fashion, the world #1 lost to Christina McHale in straight sets, 4-6 5-7.

And while I’m sure Wozniacki is more than thrilled to have a man in her life, her game has sure suffered since Mr. McIlroy came around. Let’s take a quick peek at her results since rumors of the two surfaced.

We’ll start at Wimbledon when they were introduced to each other.

Wozniacki was certainly having an up and down year before McIlroy but she had won two tournaments prior to Wimbledon and there were expectations that she would, at the very least, make the semifinals there. And perhaps this is much ado about nothing, maybe more so an indictment on Wozniacki’s defensive style of play.

But back-to-back-to-back second-round eliminations in tourney’s she used to dominate is a bit perplexing and given the McIlroy timing, we can’t help but to point it out.
