The curious story of an Australian boy who wants to play in all-girls netball league
Meet Danny Loats, an 11-year old Australian boy who wants to play netball so bad, he’s willing to play in an all-girls league. What is netball you ask? Well, it’s just a hybrid version of basketball with a raised rim, no backboard, seven players, yada, yada, yada. It’s a popular game in Australia but professionally, the governing body of the sport, the IFNA, (International Federation of Netball Associations) only recognizes women’s leagues.
So for the time being, it appears Danny Loats is out of luck.
Of course the timing of this story is rather odd. Just last week, a female in the South West District Football Netball League was suspended for touching and possibly sodomizing other players.
The Standard can reveal that the player was accused of sticking her finger up an opponent’s skirt several times and making inappropriate contact with her behind and crotch area. Witnesses reported seeing the victim crying after the round 12 match.”
I’m certainly not accusing young Loats of any foul play nor am I suggesting that he’s only playing in an all-girls league for his own perversion. In fact, I’m not exactly sure what I’m trying to say here.
But stories about inappropriate touching and a boy wanting to play in all-girls netball league in the same week? Come on, that’s just too good to pass up.
