The DeMaurice Smith videobomb was the highlight of yesterday’s lockout bonanza

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has canceled the Hall of Fame game. I’ll pause a moment to allow this shocking news to settle in…

In other news, the drama surrounding the end of the lockout was at an all-time high yesterday when the owners sent a deal over to players for approval. Unfortunately, the players refused to vote on the proposal and according to NFLPA Richard Berthelsen, “the nature of the proposal may violate labor laws”.

From Shutdown Corner:

In short, it’s illegal for an employer to coerce employees to form a union, and that’s what the NFLPA believes the owners have done in calling a press conference to make it clear that they want an agreement to pass that the players haven’t yet seen.

I won’t pretend to know the in’s and out’s of the CBA, nor frankly, do I care. I do know, however, that NFLPA Head DeMaurice Smith produced the greatest moment of yesterday’s drama when he casually dropped in on ESPN’s George Smith And Chris Mortensen.

The video at SportsGrid is worth watching, if only because a) there’s literally nothing going on in the sports world b) it’s so damn hot outside, you’re forced to stay indoors anyways.

What'd you think of this?
