The LeBron James Nike ad sucks

A. Isaac Senior Editor

“What I should do?” That’s what LeBron James asks repeatedly in this new Nike ad that presumably counters the negative feedback that he’s been receiving.

Our verdict? LeBron and Nike fail miserably.

On one hand, it appears that LeBron is trying to apologize using the somewhat rhetorical “should I admit I’ve made mistakes” line. But he quickly follows that up by talking about his “legacy” at a pseudo Hall of Fame induction.

Listen LeBron, let me fill you in on something. As it stands right now, your legacy through seven seasons of NBA basketball bares a close resemblance to a better version of Grant Hill, maybe even a Penny Hardaway. If you tore your ACL tomorrow and weren’t able to play at the same level thereafter, that’s how you’ll be remembered. A great NBA player who had some success in the playoffs but overall, couldn’t win the big game.

The only redeeming part of the entire ad is the cameo by Don Johnson. Although, it’s hard for me to see him as someone other than “Eduardo Sanchez” these days.

How dare you sell out Kenny Powers to the Federales!

What'd you think of this?
