THE NIGHT THE PISTONS DIED

tombstone THE NIGHT THE PISTONS DIED

April 24th. A date which will live in infamy.

A date that Pistons fans will remember for the rest of their lives.

The night the Pistons died as a team.

The night the Pistons got blown out by a team that didn’t even have a winning record.

A team that was just happy to be in the playoffs in a crap Eastern Conference.

Some of you will say, I’m going overboard, some of you will say I’m crazy, some of you will say I’m not a diehard Piston fan.

And you would be wrong on all accounts(although I have been called crazy).

Good teams do not get beat by the likes of the SIxers by 20+ points.

I’m not predicting a loss in this round, part of me still thinks they will probably do just enough to get by. But “just enough to get by” won’t work against a better team. It won’t work against the Celtics. Hell, it may not even work against the Magic or Raptors.

I don’t want to hear typical Piston cliches.

“We’ve been here before”

“If it aint rough, it aint right”

“We’re a veteran team”

Those sayings will fall on deaf ears this time around.
