The Seattle Sounders reimburse ticket holders after poor performance

While I’m quite shocked that a sports team had the balls to refund tickets for a poor performance, I’m much more dismayed that a MLS team has several thousand season ticket holders.

The idea reportedly came from a player, Steve Zakuani, who said that the fans shouldn’t have to pay. Remarkably, the Sounders soon announced that the game would in fact be refunded to the team’s 32,000 season ticket holders.

The Seattle Sounders have 32,000 season ticket holders? Um, that doesn’t sound right. In fact, that has to be the whopper of all lies? When did Seattle become the hub of North American futbol?

I guess I’m quite shocked that a city that had their basketball team move to Oklahoma City is now supporting a MLS team to the tune of 30k at their games. To put that number into perspective, the Sounders have more season ticket holders than the total average attendance for the 2009 Seattle Mariners.

I’m sorry, but unfortunately I have to go South Park on them and declare shenanigans. However, in doing so, I still applaud them for caring about their fans. Something that is a rarity in sports today.
