The Tiger Woods blooper reel now includes hitting himself with a club
Tiger Woods used to dominate the Accenture Match Play Championship. From 2003-2008, he won the event three times–a magnificent feat even for a player of his caliber. But those days are well behind him and Tiger now finds himself struggling against players he would normally dispose with ease.
His first round match with Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, a virtual nobody, was a nail biter. Woods needed to hole a lengthy putt on 18 just to avoid a playoff. Fernandez-Castano admitted after the match that he wasted opportunities and that the formerly top-ranked player was there for the taking.
His second round match with Nick Watney was no better. Woods routinely missed putts inside of 10 feet and struggled off the tee en route to a disappointing loss. To make matters worse, on the 10th hole, Tiger hit himself with a club.
Insult to injury.
