With divorce finalized, Tiger shoots 6-under 65

For one of the few times in his career, Tiger Woods had to prove to the world that he could still compete at the highest level. He promptly responded with his best round of the year, shooting a 6-under 65 at the Barclays. Quite a nice showing for a man who just finalized his divorce some 3 days ago.

In his first tournament since his divorce, Woods played by far his best round of the year Thursday at The Barclays, missing only one fairway and two greens in a round of 6-under 65. It was his lowest round of the year.
He was atop the leaderboard at Ridgewood Country Club, with the morning group still not finished.
Woods used his driver only twice, although one was nearly perfect. On the 291-yard fifth hole, his drive landed pin-high and rolled 15 feet away for a two-putt birdie. He finished with a 6-foot birdie.

Tiger admitted earlier in the week that his relationship problems and impending divorce affected his game (shocking, I know). I guess what’s more surprising and maybe more so a testament to his ability is this: He won major after major and tournament after tournament amidst juggling kids, a fake marriage, sexts, porn stars, cocktail waitresses, and the next door neighbor. And oh yea, somehow Elin didn’t know a god damn thing about it.

Forget his 14 majors, that’s his most impressive feat.
