Tiger Woods Players championship 309x205 Tiger Woods withdraws from The Players Championship after 9 holes

Tiger Woods has withdrawn from The Players Championship mid-round citing injury to his knee and Achilles. Woods shot a 42 on the front nine (+6) and then shook hands with playing partners Martin Kaymer and Matt Kuchar before walking off the course.

Woods had said his leg felt better. But from the opening tee shot at the TPC Sawgrass, he looked as bad as he ever has.

“The knee acted up and then the Achilles followed after that, and then the calf started cramping up,” Woods said. “Everything started getting tight, so it’s just a whole chain reaction.”

Unfortunately for Woods, he told reporters afterwards that he was having trouble walking. So, just to review for the sick bastards who love headlines like this:

“Woods pulls out; has trouble walking”

Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here all week. Feel free to continue with your own headlines in the comments section.
