Tiki Barber comes out of retirement for his “love of the game”
Yesterday, former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber filed papers with the NFL to come out of a four year retirement. The 36-year old has not played since 2006, when he announced midway through the season that he was stepping away from the game. Presumably, Tiki is coming back because he needs the money, although, he’s already stated it’s because of his “undying love” for the game.
“After seeing my brother still have fun at our age, it reignited the fire,” Tiki Barber said, according to FoxSports.com. “I’m really looking forward to the challenge of seeing if I can get back to the level of where I was. I started working out again recently. It kind of shocked myself. I still had a lot of the strength I had before. I’m really looking forward to making a return.”
Barber made headlines in April of 2010 when he dumped his pregnant wife, Ginny, for Traci Lynn Johnson, an NBC intern who he worked with. A few months later, NBC parted ways with Barber and his $300k per year contract. At his divorce settlement hearing, Barber claimed he was flat broke and couldn’t afford the outrageous alimony and child support for his four children.
“Ginny wants $150,000 per month from him in alimony” and child support that outraged pal fumed to The Post’s Dan Mangan. “In due time, if Tiki was dumb enough to give her that amount, he would be broke.”
She’s hired a baby nurse to take care of the kids for $60,000,” the friend said. “And Ginny’s legal bill is approximately $75,000 per month to Nancy Chemtob,” her lawyer, said the friend.
Whether or not that information is true is irrelevant. Paying alimony and child support when you don’t have a job isn’t exactly the wisest financial decision. Especially when you’re only 36-years old and inevitably have no future career endeavors.
Moral of the story? It’s quite alright to cheat on your pregnant wife, just make sure you’re not doing it with the hot blonde intern at the only place that is willing to give you a job. Unless of course, she’s a tiger in the sack, in which case the previous statement is null and void.
