Today’s edition of Twitter Fight: Pete Carroll vs. Bill Simmons

twitterfight Todays edition of Twitter Fight: Pete Carroll vs. Bill Simmons

Bill Simmons, never one to hide how he feels, seems to have ruffled the feathers of new Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.

And of course, because this is 2010, the entire argument took place over twitter

Simmons: If the Caps blow Game 7, DC vaults past Seattle for Most Depressed Sports City honors. At least Seattle has Pete Carroll for comedy’s sake.

Pete Carroll: @sportsguy33 seattle depressed? Come on! The m’s are 1.5 gms out of 1st & its an exciting time for the ‘hawks! And the weather’s great now!

It probably could have ended there and this wouldn’t be worth talking about. That is until Carroll starts “internet taunting” the Sports Guy.

Carroll: Wondering if @sportsguy33 is ever going to reply… Or did we shut him down with the truth about seattle??

Simmons: At the same time @petecarroll – I’m a lifelong Pats fan who remembers 1997-99 EXTREMELY well. Let’s just say you need to win back my trust.

Carroll: @sportsguy33 that was a long time ago; I was pretty busy in socal the last 9 yrs…
@sportsguy33 you should come up and visit us sometime… You’re welcome here whenever… See you this fall?

Simmons: I accept. Thank you. Would make for a fun column. RT @petecarroll You should come up and visit us sometime. You’re welcome here whenever.

Carroll: @sportsguy33 awesome. looking forward to having you. you know where to find us…

Allow me to inject some sanity into this internet disabled two-man twitter fight. Carroll has been in Seattle all of 2 months and is acting as if he is bearing the cross for all their fans? Spare me Pete. You feel the plight of Seattle fans as much as Reggie Bush felt the plight of a being a “poor” USC football player.

As for the Sports Guy, I normally won’t side with him but Carroll rubs me the wrong way. This internet bully mentality he’s taken up reeks of too many days spent under the protection of USC boosters.

If he can prove he can hack it with the boys in the NFL, more power to him. Otherwise, he was just another successful coach who cheated in college and didn’t get caught.
