‘Two and a Half Men’ opens with news that Rose killed Charlie

The much anticipated season premiere of Two and a Half Men opened with Charlie Harper’s funeral. Not surprisingly, many of Charlie’s old flames were in attendance, among them his long-time neighbor and fiancée Rose.

Viewers find out during her tearful eulogy that Charlie slept with a woman only days after he had proposed. Rose insinuates that she “may” have pushed him into an oncoming train as payback.

Here’s the entire opening scene.

Was CBS delivering one final blow with how Charlie died? Maybe. He certainly could have been written off less tragically, perhaps with an overdose of some kind or a crazy drunken episode.

A part of me feels that executive producer Chuck Lorre wanted to stick it to Charlie Sheen one final time, despite Sheen’s contrite behavior at the Emmy’s Sunday night. Either way, the show has moved on, Ashton Kutcher made his debut and is signed for a year. A year that may inevitably be the last one for the show.
