UCLA legend John Wooden dies at age 99
John Wooden, one of the greatest coaches of all-time has passed away at the age of 99. Known as the Wizard of Westwood, Wooden led the UCLA Bruins to 10 NCAA Championships including an unprecedented 7 in a row from 1967-1973.
Over a 27 year span, Wooden compiled a 664–162 NCAA coaching record. 620 of those wins came with his beloved Bruins. His achievements both on and off the court are almost too many too count.
-First person to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and coach
-Named SIs Sportsman of the Year in 1972
-Member of the founding class of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame
-The college basketball player of the year award is named after him
-Golf Digest lists John Wooden as one of four people to hit both a double eagle and a hole in one in the same round of golf
-In 2003, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom
