The Miami Heat frontcourt situation just got a bit more complex. Forward Udonis Haslem was arrested in Florida for possessing a whole lot of marijuana. How much is a whole lot? Try 20 grams.

The trooper smelled “an odor of marijuana from within the vehicle,” Wysocky wrote in a press release, leading to the arrest of both Haslem and passenger Antwain Fleming, 33.

“After the subsequent search, Mr. Haslem and Mr. Fleming were placed under arrest,” Wysocky wrote.

According to Miami-Dade court records, Haslem was charged with possessing more than 20 grams of marijuana, a third-degree felony which could bring maximum punishments of a $5,000 fine and a five-year prison sentence.

While I certainly won’t lecture those on the use of banned substances, can we all just agree that toking with your buddy in the car with that much chronic makes you an idiot?

If this had happened to Shavlik Randolph or even one of the rookies the Heat brought in, the team probably wouldn’t have felt the effect. But Haslem, who just signed a new 5-year contract, is the most important piece of the puzzle outside of the big three.

Losing Haslem for any significant time in the upcoming season would definitely put a chink in the Heat armor.

What'd you think of this?
