VIDEO: 5-year old has meltdown after Spartans’ senior night
It’s not everyday you receive an email entitled, “Is this your son” with a video attached. I immediately went into a cold sweat thinking my numerous “honor code violations” at MSU left me with offspring I wasn’t aware of. Thankfully, at least for the time being, I’m in the clear as this 5-year old looks nothing like me, although, he seems to take his MSU athletics just as serious.
Two nights ago, the Spartans said goodbye to seniors Kalin Lucas and Durrell Summers, players that have been integral in back-to-back Big Ten titles and Final Four appearances. The ending of the game was emotional as the Spartan tradition of kissing the “S” (now the logo) at mid-court dates back to Shawn Respert’s days in the 90s.
It was especially emotional for my pseudo-son who broke down in tears after finding out he wouldn’t see his favorite players anymore.
The video is certainly not as heartbreaking as the Michael Young video from a weeks back. Maybe because this Spartan mom didn’t exploit her kid for cheap thrills on the internet by lying to him.
And hopefully for this kid’s sake, he’ll be able to watch his favorite players for a few more weeks during March Madness. But given the Spartans erratic play this season, I wouldn’t necessarily bet on it.
H/t to the numerous Spartan faithful that sent me this clip
