VIDEO: Aaron Rome knocks out Nathan Horton

Boston Bruins forward Nathan Horton remains hospitalized after a brutal hit by the Canucks’ Aaron Rome during the first period of Game 3. Horton laid motionless on the ice for several minutes as paramedics attended to him. Rome was given a 5-minute major and a game misconduct. He also has a hearing scheduled Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the NHL.

I know the end result is completely devastating for both the Bruins and Horton himself, but I’m not sure Rome will receive a suspension for it. Yes, it was late and he left his feet which made the misconduct the right call, but we’ve seen that same hit a numerous amount of times go unpunished.

Regardless, word will come down from the NHL brass later today. Interesting to see if the injury to Horton plays in their decision.
