VIDEO: Chris Neil called for diving after Alex Ovechkin spear

When you have 56 penalty minutes in 19 games, things like this are going to happen to you. Watch Ottawa Senators winger Chris Neil take a stick to the abdomen from Alex Ovechkin, and then watch as the referees hilariously call him for diving.

Yes, he probably embellished the call, but then again, who doesn’t. After the game Neil had this to say about the incident.

“It’s frustrating, but we make mistakes out there, too. So do the refs. Hopefully the league will review it and make the right call.”

We’ll wait to see what head disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan has to say about the penalty. In fact, I’d love to see him break it down on film like he has for past penalties.
