VIDEO: Devils score an awesome empty net goal…on themselves

When you pull the goalie at the end of a game, strange things can happen. A bounce here, a stick there and all of a sudden, the puck finds itself in the back of the net.

Unfortunately for the New Jersey Devils, their version of an empty net goal was quite different than any other. Watch as an errant pass gets deflected all the way down to the ice.

It appears, on replay, that Brandon Sutter got his stick on the puck but in the end, it was Carolina goalie Cam Ward who got credit for the goal. Certainly something he’ll brag about to his kids.
