Floyd Mayweather Jr. 309x167 VIDEO: Floyd Mayweather almost comes to blows with father on HBOs 24/7

HBO’s “24/7″ with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Victor Ortiz was supposed to detail both fighters’ preparations for their upcoming bout on September 17th. In the first episode, which aired Saturday night, the first 25 minutes of the show did exactly that.

Then, in not so many words, all hell broke loose.

It started when Floyd Mayweather Sr. showed up to the Mayweather Boxing Club. The on-again, off-again relationship between father and son has been well documented over the years. The two did not speak for a considerable amount of time and Floyd opted to go with his uncle Roger as trainer in 2000.

The fact that Sr. has not gotten credit for some of his son’s achievements has always been a point of contention. A point that appears to be the instigator for the fight you’re about to see.

There was definitely some strange editing at the beginning. HBO made it seem as though an argument about two female boxers somehow degraded into a family feud.

Regardless of the reason, it was disturbing to watch and makes you wonder if HBO should have even run it in the first place. A sentiment that is shared by many in the boxing media.

What'd you think of this?
