VIDEO: Here’s Jim Leyland wildly gesticulating and getting tossed from a game
Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland is normally a mild mannered man when it comes to in-game disagreements with umpires. When you smoke six packs of Marlboro Reds everyday for 40 years, you simply don’t have the energy to continuously leave the dugout to argue calls. But last night, after a changed call at first base, Leyland blew up. He stormed onto the field and waved his arms maniacally before umpire Ed Rapuano tossed him.
Here’s video of Mt. Leyland erupting.
Yes, in the end, the ump got the call right but that wasn’t Leyland’s beef. Appealing to the home plate ump for a call when you are less than five feet away from it yourself simply defies logic. If that was the case, then Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga would be standing before you with a perfect game. Right Jim Joyce?
