VIDEO: High school football game features crappy officiating

For the time being, let’s ignore that a crazy parent spent several days putting this video below together and instead focus on some pretty crappy officiating in a Provo area high school football game.

Listen, I get it, reffing junior varsity games isn’t exactly glorious work. And I certainly understand that several of these bad calls are of the judgement variety, and thus are subject to your own personal interpretation.

That said, some of these calls make me wonder if you’re familiar with the rules of the game.

Calling a play dead after a blocked punt?
Calling a play dead after an interception in the end zone and taking away a return of about 100 yards?

Ouch. Those two alone should get you canned.

As for the overzealous dad who made the video, well, good for you sir. It’s nice to see some parents taking such a keen interest in their child’s athletic endeavors. But in the future, you might be better off doing what all the other parents who are pissed at refs do. Swear, flip them the bird, bite them, and in some cases, incite huge brawls.
