VIDEO: Mai Sato is the International Pole-Dance Champion

Chris Spags Founder and Editor

Japan’s Mai Sato defended her crown in this year’s 2010 International Pole-Dancing Championship in Tokyo. And this is her performance. You probably won’t see this one in your local Beaver Trap. (EDITOR’S UPDATE: The International Pole-Dancing Association had the video taken off YouTube because they apparently hate free publicity for their “sport” so here’s Mai’s initial entry into the competition until we can find new video of the performance that won her the prestigious crown.)

There was also a male winner from Australia named Duncan West (we don’t need the video for this one, thanks) and a competition for the disabled won by Japan’s Eri Kamamoto (I would not be opposed to seeing the video of this one).

There’s an entire feature, with lots of pictures, from the Associated Press on Huffington Post with more on the event as well as pole dancing’s quest to become an Olympic sport by 2016.

And if you’re expecting to see Sato or her friends at a Tokyo strip club, keep wishing; Sato tours with the Tokyo company of Cirque de Soleil. The only lap dances you get there are from sweaty Romanian men who happen to be painted silver. While you may applaud their effort, I doubt that’d be worth the $20 plus tip.
