VIDEO: Carl Crawford takes a ball to the family jewels

You can maybe understand a catcher getting a foul tip in the nuts, maybe even a wild pitch that goes astray. But on a pick off move to first base? That’s a bit unusual.

Sorry Carl Crawford–like the announcer said, you have a lot of sympathy from us

I particularly enjoy the banter in the booth after someone has an injury like this. Some will dance around the issue, saying “he’ll be out with a groin contusion”. Well, that’s one to say it. Another is, “he got hit in the junk, nuts, balls, or testicles”. Groin pain doesn’t do that kind of injury justice.

You could also just follow the lead of the Tampa Bay color commentator in the video and do a PSA.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, that’s precisely the reason why you should wear a cup”

What'd you think of this?
