Paul Pierce ejected 309x151 VIDEO: Paul Pierce ejected from Game 1 The much anticipated Boston Celtics-Miami Heat series started with a bang yesterday. Midway through the fourth quarter after Paul Pierce had already received a technical for a mini-headbutt of James Jones, he received his second technical and was ejected from the game. There appeared to be some verbal jostling between Pierce and Wade during the play, but nothing that would elicit an ejection.

Head referee Dan Crawford said afterwards that Pierce directed a “verbal taunt” at Wade. Under NBA rules, that is considered inflammatory and punishable by a technical foul. Blah, blah, blah. Not a big Paul Pierce fan myself but the call looked weak. However, he’s a seasoned veteran of the NBA playoffs and he let the Heat get under his skin. Shameful on his part.
