VIDEO: Shaq conducts the Boston Pops Orchestra

In a continued effort to do more off the court than on, Celtics center Shaquille O’Neal conducted three songs for the Boston Pops Orchestra last night. The video itself is not that interesting, that is, unless you enjoy a 7-foot man in a tuxedo wiggling his head and pretending to be a maestro.

According to the stats, Shaq has played and started in 17 games this year. And truthfully, I can’t recall a single highlight that was noteworthy. That either means I’m not as big a NBA fan as I claim to be, or Shaq is just laying low until the playoffs start. Given the way the Celtics have steamrolled through the season thus far, they should give the Big Aristotle a few months off, let him make his own music album or something.

Then when called upon to beat up on the sorry Miami Heat interior, he’ll dominate like the old Shaq used to. Actually, that makes far too much sense. Expect a Shaq faux injury or minor knee surgery sometime right around the All-Star break. That sounds much more convenient.
