VIDEO: Texas Rangers fan dies reaching for foul ball
Sadly, a Texas Rangers fan died Thursday night after falling more than twenty feet reaching for a foul ball. The man was attending the game with his young son.
Replays showed a foul ball caroming off the wall to Rangers left fielder Josh Hamilton, who innocently threw it into the stands. As the man reached for the ball over the railing, he lost his balance and both his son and another man tried to hold him up unsuccessfully.
Rangers team president Nolan Ryan spoke after the game.
“We had a very tragic accident tonight and one of our fans lost their life reaching over the rail trying to get a ball,” team president Nolan Ryan said. “As an organization, and as our team members and our staff, we’re very heavy-hearted about this, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.”
Awful. Just awful.
