VIDEO: Tomas Berdych booed by Aussie crowd for refusing to shake hands with opponent

Tomas Berdych was none too pleased when his opponent, Nicolas Almagro, sent a shot directly at him during their match Sunday. He showed his displeasure by refusing to shake hands with him after their four set affair had concluded. The lack of sportsmanship and perceived sign of disrespect did not go over well with the Aussie crowd. Watch as Berdych is booed mercilessly in the post-match interview.

It appears Berdych felt somewhat contrite after things had calmed down. On his official Facebook page, he issued a statement to his fans and haters

I’d like to do this deal! It’s just so.reasons and really it’s not about life! At this point is after the game. I like the emotions and all that belongs to tennis! Anyway, thank you for your feedback! Thanks for the good and bad/I would like to finish the discussion about handshake with this post. I like emotions (good, bad) and they are part of the tennis.Thank you fans and haters, too!

An obvious translation from Berdych’s native Slovakian tongue. The best part about the Facebook statement, however, was the link to a video called, “how to give a homie handshake.

At the very least, Berdych deserves credit for having a sense of humor about the whole thing. He also deserves credit for having perhaps the hottest girlfriend on the WTA.

What'd you think of this?
