VIDEO: Umpire John Hirschbeck gets hit in the nuts…AGAIN!
A. Isaac For the second time in as many weeks, umpire John Hirschbeck took a foul tip to the nuts. As much as I would like to laugh at a man getting hit in the family jewels, this one made me cringe a little.
On a somewhat related note, Roberto Alomar, who spit in Hirschbeck’s face in 1996, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame over the weekend. The two have since made amends since the ugly incident and Alomar even donated $50,000 to ALD research—a cause near and dear to Hirschbeck’s heart as one of his sons died from the disease.
That being said, I’m not so sure Hirschbeck was thrilled to see a man he once had to be physically restrained from make the Hall of Fame. Combine that with this epic nut shot, and yea, not such a great weekend for the ump.
