The World Cup may be the greatest sporting event on Earth, but the 2010 version will be remembered more for bad officiating and violence.

Today, there was a story about a man who killed his 2-year-old daughter for crying during the USA-Ghana game. The man apparently was so upset with the child that he shoved a screw down her throat and suffocated her.

Truly disgusting.

Yesterday, after the Netherlands defeated Slovakia, several fans of both teams brawled in the streets. And unfortunately for this Slovakian fan, it appears he got the worst of it.

It’s just soccer people. Not life or death. Take a step back and realize that no matter who wins, your lives will ultimately be unchanged.
