Aisha Tyler fights back against her haters with… a poem?

Matt Hawkins Contributing Writer, Video Games

Time once again to talk about, you guessed it, E3. One of the celebs involved this year was Aisha Tyler, who took a thrashing from gamers over her less than stellar job of MC-ing the Ubisoft presser. So much so that she’s retaliating against the haters in the form of what appears to be poetry, on Facebook.

She brings up many points, and the thing that seems to piss her off the most is the accusation that she’s not a gamer. Here’s an excerpt…

I go to E3 each year because I love video games.
Because new titles still get me high.
Because I still love getting swag.
Love wearing my gamer pride on my sleeve.
People ask me what console I play.
Motherfucker, ALL of them.

I get invited to E3 because real gamers know I’m a gamer.
I don’t do it for the money.
I have plenty of money.
I don’t do it for the fame.
Fuck fame.
I do it because I love video games.

The whole thing can be read here; it’s pretty long. Anyhow, her stance is fine and dandy, though I have to somewhat question the “I don’t do it for the money. I have plenty of money.” assertion, since why else would she be on stage, introducing games for a major video game publisher at a trade event, and spouting groan inducing jokes while doing so?

I actually like Tyler and find her legit entertaining. So when I witnessed her stinking up the Ubisoft stage, there was the knowledge already that the jokes being recited were not hers, and that she was just performing a job she was hired to do. There’s no shame in that.

And it’s not like she came off nearly as bad like Jamie Kennedy that one time (but she’s not a drunken washed up has been either).

Furthermore, as a dedicated gamer, she should know already that the lot is filled with tons of irrationally angry dorks. So why acknowledge them? Near the end, she mentions racist comments on YouTube, and yeah, that sucks. But search for any cat video and I guarantee you’ll find at least one racist comment nestled in the comments. Go ahead, check, I can wait.

I also don’t think it’s the wisest of moves to not only call them out by name (because they LIVE for that kind of stuff), but also posting a pic of yourself with a Gears of War gun. Because those haters, they’re also mighty good with Photoshop as well. You know what they say about feeding the trolls…
