What, just me?

Anyway, the big one is, as usual, “I will go to the gym more often!” But, unsurprisingly, it’s hard to motivate yourself to get off your butt and get to the gym.

Fortunately, there’s an app that uses a new and enterprising method to make you go: bribery!

The app, called GymPact, functions as follows: you log on and note what days you want to go to the gym, your “pact”. You commit a certain amount of money for the attendance of each session. If you go, you just check in at your gym with the app and hop on the treadmill. If you miss out on the gym, that money is sucked out of your account.

Where does it go? Into the wallets of people willing to get off their butts and actually get on the treadmill, pump some iron, what have you. Yep, with this app, going to the gym actually makes you a little money.

It is, of course, entirely voluntary, and you’re not required to sign a contract or even make a pact weekly if you don’t want to. Of course, losing a hundred bucks is generally a pretty good motivator to get out there and hit the rowing machine, so if you’re having trouble getting in the gym, this might be the way to go.
